The Canisius College department of kinesiology in the School of Education and Human Services has entered into a formal articulation agreement with the School of Health Professions at D'Youville University for many of their allied health care majors.

Students in the Good Samaritan Club at Cardinal O'Hara High School made fleece tie blankets for patients at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. On June 7, some of the members, accompanied by their adviser, Renee Orr, delivered nearly 20 blankets to Roswell.

WNY Book Arts Center (Book Arts) will launch the 2022 PRINTING PARTNERS sessions in conjunction with community partner Carnegie Art Center. This program offers free, sequential art classes to children and families in their own neighborhoods, and as always it is free to participate in. Open to ages 8-plus, students will learn the art of origami, printmaking, as well as an array of bookmaking techniques with resident teaching artist Ruby Meritt.

Seven of Lazy Creek Art's students, ranging from 6-9 years old, recently collaborated to create a self-published picture book titled "Kitty." On June 5, the young artists presented Save-A-Pet Niagara of Newfane with a $100 check from the initial proceeds from their publication.

AAA: 18 people die in NYS crashes involving teen drivers every summer in '100 Deadliest Days'

The "100 Deadliest Days" is the period between Memorial Day and Labor Day when fatal teen crashes increase dramatically. Nationwide, 7,124 people died in teen driver-related summertime crashes over a 10-year period from 2011-20. That's more than seven people a day each summer, and that is nearly half of the total number of those killed in teen-driver crashes for the entire rest of the year.

$50 million available to increase student access to mental health services

Kathy Hochul recently announced up to $50 million in available funding for school districts to improve student access to mental health resources and assist students who have experienced trauma that has impacted their education. D'Youville President Lorrie A. Clemo, Ph.D., and the board of trustees on Friday announced an extraordinary milestone in the 113-year-old history of the institution. D'Youville has been granted university status by the New York State Board of Regents and is now designated as D'Youville University. Touro College and Utica College were also approved for university designation.
