Situated in the heart of the village at the southwest corner of South Fifth and Plain streets, the house consists of two wings. The first wing, or north section (along Plain), is a large rectangular wing with a center chimney built in 1817 by David Smith. He was the minister for the first Religious Society in Lewiston, first minister of the Presbyterian Church, and also a founder for the first Episcopal congregation.

The Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) is coordinating a series of COVID-19 vaccine clinics in January with five local cultural organizations, specifically for children and their families. These vaccine clinics will offer Pfizer coronavirus doses for children under 18 years old, and vaccine including boosters for eligible family members.

Gov. Kathy Hochul on Friday announced new guidance recommending booster doses for all New Yorkers ages 12 and older. The guidance, following action by the CDC, recommends that people, including the newly authorized 12-15-year-old age group, who received the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, should receive a booster dose at least five months after their second dose.

At a virtual meeting Friday with more than 150 Erie County school administrators, district superintendents and nursing staff from public, private and charters schools, the Erie County Department of Health and its epidemiology school team presented "test to stay" protocols for p-12 students. ECDOH stated, "This program may start for many schools as early as next week."

The Erie County Department of Health is coordinating a distribution of nearly 40,000 COVID-19 at-home antigen test kits to Erie County village, town and city emergency managers. Each test kit box includes two antigen tests, for a total of about 80,000 tests.

The highly transmissible omicron variant of the novel coronavirus has been detected in Erie County, University at Buffalo scientists and Erie County health officials reported Wednesday. The variant was found in virus samples, analyzed by a UB team that has been sequencing the virus in the region, of Western New Yorkers who tested positive this month.

Located at the Center for the Arts at Lewiston-Porter High School, the new art space will operate under the direction of the art department. Rich Family Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Rich Products, has announced a $1 million grant to the Say Yes Buffalo Endowment Campaign. The gift, which will be distributed over the next five years, directly removes financial barriers to thousands of Buffalo public and charter high-school graduates who seek to earn a certificate, associate's or bachelor's degree. And it doubles the foundation's previous donation to Say Yes - a five-year grant of $500,000 awarded in 2016.
