Artpark & Company welcomed Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats back to Lewiston on Tuesday for an outdoor amphitheater concert. This time, the band was joined by Antibalas for an Artpark/Funtime collaboration.

Artpark & Company's Strawberry Moon Festival celebrated the indigenous cultures of the Western New York region through storytelling, music, dance, and arts and crafts on Saturday. Guests participated in an inclusive and engaging Native American community gathering, and were entertained by an eclectic lineup of artists performing on multiple stages.

The Lewiston Garden Club celebrated its annual GardenFest this past weekend with beautiful weather, large crowds, and the finest in greenery. This year's theme was "Helping Lewiston bloom for 95 years," and the event featured speakers, open gardens, vendors and special displays along Center Street.

Lewiston GardenFest, presented by Lewiston Garden Club, is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, June 18-19. The Center Street festival includes more than 60 vendors selling flowers, plants and handcrafted art and garden essentials, along with a garden walk, speakers, a container garden contest, and more activities throughout the weekend.

The Historical Association of Lewiston has a brand-new exhibit at the Lewiston Museum - with a centerpiece thought to be lost to the village burning in December 1813.

It's a thought experiment made real, 17 years in the making. Ken Scibetta and Ed Webster met each other while on staff at Water Street Landing. Over a short period of time, Scibetta found himself serving as the restaurant's general manager. Webster was bar manager.

Veterans of Foreign Wars Downriver Post 7487 held its annual Memorial Day celebration and ceremony Monday at the "Circle of Honor" monument in Academy Park in Lewiston. Cmdr. Gordon Spencer served as master of ceremonies. Veteran and New York State Sen. Robert Ortt delivered the keynote address. Boy Scout Troop 824 conducted a flag-folding ceremony, and Santino Hall led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The mansion on 105 Third St. belonged to one of the earliest settlers of Lewiston, who built the home sometime around 1815. This man is Joshua Fairbanks. He was born Jan. 14, 1768, in Dedham, Massachusetts, and moved to Lewiston in 1805 after creating a successful tavern in Queenston, Canada. It is known that Aaron Burr and his daughter and son-in-law stayed at his tavern on their way to see Niagara Falls around 1805.

Trustees in the Village of Lewiston on Monday voted to fence-in the new inclusive playground and resurface the outdoor basketball courts at Marilyn Toohey Park. They approved these improvements contingent on receipt of funds from the sale of the "Big Yellow House" at 475 Ridge St.

At 832 Ridge Road sits a house with history that predates its construction. The first known structure built on this spot was made by Joseph Brant, a Mohawk chief, and his tribe. It was the site of their camp, and later the cabin of Brant.

Earlier this week, New York State Senate Minority Leader Rob Ortt was able to recognize and honor his nominee for the 2022 New York State Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame, Col. Bruce R. Sutherland. The family of Sutherland, who was honored posthumously, received the award from Ortt's office at the first Col. Bruce R. Sutherland Memorial Golf Tournament held at Niagara Frontier Golf Club - a local favorite of Sutherland's.
