One of Canada's most time-honored rock bands, The Tragically Hip, makes a return visit to Seneca Allegany Events Center in Salamanca as part of a just-announced tour in support of its soon-to-be-released 13th studio album, "Now for Plan A." The Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel will present three-time Grammy Award-winning artist Jon Secada as the headline entertainment at the 2013 Premier.

The Premier, Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center's annual black-tie dinner and entertainment gala, will be held Jan. 19. Proceeds from the event will benefit Memorial's cardiac and stroke care services.

Niagara Celtic Festival kicks off Saturday in Olcott

The 12th annual Niagara Celtic Heritage Festival and Highland Games will take place in Olcott on Saturday, Sept. 15, and Sunday, Sept. 16, at Krull Park in historic Olcott Beach.

Recently, Krull Park was honored with a second-place finish in Coca-Cola's "America's Favorite Park Contest," and took home a $50,000 prize after receiving more than 21 million votes. The Niagara Celtic Heritage Festival has been held at Krull Park each year since 2002.

This year, the festival grounds have been split into eight regions so that festivalgoers have an easier time finding the events and attractions they want to attend.

Niagara University Theatre has announced its 2012-13 season.

Steven Braddock, director of Niagara University Theatre said, "This season, you will find two Tony Award-winning musicals, three laugh-out-loud comedies by Neil Simon, Steve Martin (yes - that banjo strumming comedian) and Moliere, and a dark and lyrical mystery. In addition, our annual student-directed short play festival will offer comedies, dramas and everything in between. Also, our theater student group, the NU Players, will test their wings by entirely producing a contemporary adult drama about the searing effect of war on relationships."
