In its sixth year as a major sponsor, Tully's Good Times Restaurants will expand its fundraising effort and team up with law enforcement agencies to support the Special Olympics New York, specifically in the Central, Western, Northern New York and the Southern Tier. As predicted, the Lewiston Smelt Festival was about 55 and overcast on Friday. What was an unexpected surprise was the amount of mud within Academy Park, where the annual event relocated for 2019. To counter the conditions, the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce brought in an oversized party tent and buckets of wood chips.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Taste NY sales increased to a record $17.8 million in 2018. Total gross sales of New York products from Taste NY events and locations last year, including the opening of six brand-new Taste NY Markets in welcome centers across the state, increased by $1.7 million over the previous year. The continued year-over-year growth reflects increasing consumer demand for local food and beverage products.

On Tuesday, GOP Niagara County Legislator Jesse Gooch spoke out against the controversy surrounding a proposed Chick-Fil-A restaurant in the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. News broke last week that BNIA was considering bringing a Chick-Fil-A to the airport's food court. However, after criticism from Buffalo Assemblyman Sean Ryan, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority announced it would not be bringing Chick-Fil-A to BNIA.
