Buffalo's Best Kielbasa contest was back to crown the best homemade sausagemakers in Western New York. The culinary showdown took place Saturday at Flying Bison Brewing Co., kicking off the "Pils, Pierogi & Polka" event. Attendees enjoyed samples of smoked kielbasa, horseradish and Polish mustard from Bacik Foods.

Tickets are on sale for "Vino at the Casino," the popular wine-tasting event featuring the Niagara Wine Trail's member wineries and other guest vendors, held at Batavia Downs Gaming and Hotel (8315 Park Road, Batavia), on Saturday, April 15. The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops announced Elizabeth Mamot, owner of travel planning agency Aventra, was elected chair for the 2023 event - which marks 40 years since the first iteration of the festival. Mamot will lead the planning efforts for the Taste of Buffalo, taking place July 8-9 along Delaware Avenue and Niagara Square in downtown Buffalo.

The Erie County Agricultural Society (ECAS) is accepting applications for scholarships for 2023. There will be $40,000 in monies awarded to deserving high school seniors and college students up to their junior year. Since its inception in the 1950s, the goal of the scholarship program has been to connect the region's students with agriculture, business and volunteerism.
