Ransomville Speedway hosted a drivers registration meeting at the Ransomville Fire Co. on Sunday afternoon. Drivers had the opportunity to reserve pit pads, register their cars, purchase track memberships and DIRTcar licenses. Ransomville Speedway officials, including tech inspectors and the race director, were on hand to answer any questions.

Following the on-the-field cardiac arrest in the Buffalo Bills vs. Cincinnati Bengals game that left Damar Hamlin fighting for his life in an intensive care unit, D'Youville University has partnered with Sports Medicine Concepts to offer Core4 simulated training to local athletic trainers and coaches at the high school, college and university levels. The associated cost is $3, in recognition of Hamlin's jersey number.

The Lewiston-Porter graduate will face Alexander Hernandez on Dec. 10 in "Ultimate UFC 282," a mixed-martial arts card at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Gov. Kathy Hochul on Tuesday signed legislation (S.5891-F/A.5115-E) that allows New York collegiate student athletes to receive compensation for their name, image or likeness without the risk of forfeiting their scholarships or eligibility to participate in collegiate athletics.
New York State Parks reminds snowmobilers that state trail system remains closed

The Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Snowmobile Bureau reminds snowmobilers to exercise caution in this weekend's snowstorm. Despite the large snowfalls in the Tug Hill and in Western New York, snowmobile trails are not open at this time. For public safety reasons, grooming generally may not begin until the closure of big game hunting season. Snowmobilers should exercise restraint when operating snowmobiles before the start of the season.
AAA: Hunting season opens - motorists should beware

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is announcing the availability of $38 million in funding from the "Bipartisan Infrastructure Law" for fish passage projects across the nation that address outdated, unsafe or obsolete dams, culverts, levees and other barriers "fragmenting" the nation's rivers and streams.
New York Power Authority fishing piers close for season

The New York Power Authority announced fishing facilities, including the fishing pier at the base of the Power Authority's Robert Moses Niagara Hydroelectric Power Plant, will close for the season at dusk today, Tuesday, Nov. 15. The fishing pier located near the Upper Mountain Fire Co. at the Lewiston Reservoir and at the water intakes along the upper Niagara River will also close for the season.
