Congressman Brian Higgins announced three local recipients of U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm to School Grants. Grassroots Gardens of Western New York received an award totaling $96,627, the Buffalo Public School District was awarded $96,290, and the Niagara Falls Central School District received an award of $94,603.

The esports industry is expected to pass the $1 billion mark by early 2022. Niagara County Community College will meet demand within the industry both on the creative side and on a competitive level for students. A newly renovated portion of NCCC's cafeteria has been reconstructed and redesigned as the new advanced computing lab, which will host computer programming courses as well as serve as a home base for NCCC's esports teams.
Student vaccination requirement takes effect at UB

UB receives $1.8 million grant to make cancer treatments less toxic

To reduce unwanted toxicity, University at Buffalo professor Joseph Balthasar received a $1.8 million grant from the National Cancer Institute to develop a novel strategy that blocks the delivery of anticancer toxins to healthy tissue.

Niagara University breaks ground on $11.5 million renovation for Kiernan Center

On Tuesday, Niagara University broke ground on its $11.5 million renovation project at the university's Kiernan Recreation Center. Project construction is scheduled to begin later this month, and the renovation is expected to be completed for the fall 2022 semester. Congratulations to the Kiwanis Club of Lewiston scholarship winners Charles Dieteman, Jessi Avila-Shah and Amaris Huang. The Lewiston Kiwanis Club awarded Dieteman with a scholarship of $1,000. In addition, scholarships of $500 were awarded to Avila-Shah and Huang. The William and Joanne Roth Memorial Scholarship, in the amount of $1,000, was awarded to Isabella Guerrucci. All four recipients were chosen for their high academic achievement, leadership skills, and community service involvement.
