North Tonawanda father & grandfather seeking kidney transplant

Paul Kupiec is a longtime North Tonawanda resident. He and his wife, MaryBeth, enjoy joining in community events and activities, but health issues now limit his energy and options. Kupiec and his family hope that a kidney transplant will give him a new lease on life.
Aquarium of Niagara extends hours for summer; introduces family-friendly outdoor yoga

Beginning Saturday, July 1, the Aquarium of Niagara will transition to a summer schedule featuring extended operating hours. Sunday through Thursday, the venue will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays, the Aquarium of Niagara will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. These extended hours will apply through Sunday, Sept. 3.

Lewiston Police Department investigating fatal MVA

On Friday, Chief Frank Previte was patrolling in the area of Creek Road and Jeffersons Way when he observed a motor vehicle accident involving a car and a motorcycle. First aid was immediately started with the help of a nearby resident. The driver of the motorcycle, a Ransomville resident, was treated by Lewiston Fire Co. No. 1 and transported to ECMC.

Hudson, age 29, of murder in the first degree, burglary in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, in the killing of 28-year-old Mariah Wilson in her Niagara Falls apartment on Sept. 4, 2020.

Lake trout research underway on Lake Ontario is part of the U.S.-Canada Cooperative Science and Monitoring Initiative (CSMI) field year on the lake. Research collecting data on lake trout movement using acoustic telemetry tags is being led by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) in collaboration with the U.S. Geologic Survey (USGS), New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Fisheries, with outreach assistance from New York Sea Grant (NYSG).
