A dream come true: Partnership breaks ground on The Niagara community center

When he was a child, Gary Hall spent a lot of time playing with his friends at parks, schools and other facilities in Niagara Falls, taking advantage of the Boys & Girls Club on 17th Street and other programs. But there wasn't a dedicated recreation site for them to attend.

Erie County earns credit rating upgrade

Wall Street rating agency Fitch Ratings has upgraded Erie County's credit rating from "A" to "A+" and commented favorably on the county's fiscal management. Fitch's announcement follows a three-step rating upgrade by Standard & Poor's in September 2014.

Buffalo Sabres: 2015 training camp opens

The Buffalo Sabres have announced the team will open its training camp on Thursday, Sept. 17, when veteran players are expected to report for testing and physicals. Beginning Friday, Sept. 18, the team's practice sessions at First Niagara Center will be open to the public, with practices being broken down into multiple sessions throughout each day.

Lewiston man pleads guilty to tax charge

U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. announced Friday that Jon DiBernardo, 51, of Lewiston, pleaded guilty to tax evasion before U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. The charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison, a fine of $100,000 or both.
