Morinello announces Assembly reelection bid

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos reminds New Yorkers that turtles are nesting in May and June. He asked motorists to "give turtles a brake." In New York, thousands of turtles are killed each year by unsuspecting drivers when turtles cross roads to find nesting areas.

FeedMore WNY received a $50,000 grant from the Morgan Stanley Foundation to provide Western New York families in need the ability to choose from available foods or food boxes at partner food pantries. Pontoon lifted out of Niagara Falls

On Wednesday, New York's Army National Guard used a CH-47F Chinook heavy lift helicopter to remove a pontoon from a portion of the New York Power Authority's "ice boom" at Niagara Falls. The New York State Park Police teamed with U.S. Army aviators from the New York Army National Guard's Detachment 1, Company "B" 3rd Battalion on the operation, which began Tuesday morning with scoping.

Andres says warehouse proposal should be approved

Niagara County Legislator Rich Andres, chairman of the county's Economic Development Committee, on Tuesday said the proposed site for the new warehouse project (of which Amazon is the potential tenant) was deemed shovel-ready by Empire State Development a decade ago and, as such, the project absolutely needs to be approved if the county wants to maintain credibility with national and international site selectors.
New building at NCCC to house Niagara County Law Enforcement Academy

A new training facility for the Niagara County Law Enforcement Academy will be built on the Sanborn campus of Niagara County Community College. An estimated $2.27 million for the building was appropriated in the SUNY building fund adopted by the state budget passage a few weeks ago.
