On the closing night of the 63rd annual Niagara County Peach Festival, the Lewiston Kiwanis Club presented a check in the amount of $4,000 to the John R. Oishei Children's Hospital. The organization, on Sunday, also presented a check for $883.80 to Lewiston No. 1 Fire Co. This money will be used to purchase an additional automated external defibrillator for response vehicles.

Sunday night at the Lewiston No. 1 Fire Co. firehall, 19-year-old Shanya Davis of Niagara Falls was named the 2021-22 Peach Queen. She received her crown from Victoria Skrlin-Kozak, who took the title in 2019. The scholarship pageant did not take place in 2020, due to coronavirus safety restrictions.

On Sept. 18-19, the American Revolution returns to Western New York in a big way. Three of the largest 18th century reenactment organizations in North America will converge on Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown for a weekend of large-scale battle reenactments, living history camps and other educational activities. The theme of the event will be "Raid and Retribution" focusing on the Revolution on the New York frontier.

Grandmaster Flash, one of the virtuoso creators of hip-hop and leader of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five - the genre's first act to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - will be in residence at the University at Buffalo this fall. He will direct the next Working Artists Lab as part of a full semester of hip-hop inspired programming presented by the university's Arts Collaboratory.
