Sara Villnave, an assistant director in Niagara University's Office of Admissions, received NU's Outstanding Employee Award for February-April 2013. Villnave was presented with the award by the Rev. Joseph L. Levesque, C.M., Niagara president.
Old Fort Niagara names volunteer of the year

Old Fort Niagara named Arthur and Judith Hannah of Youngstown as the historic site's volunteers of the year at OFN's recent volunteer recognition breakfast. Art and Judy have contributed thousands of hours to the fort's educational programs, including costumed interpretation, foodways programs and planning and cultivation of the fort's historic gardens.

On Friday, March 1, the Playground Committee will supervise the annual Kaegebein Talent Show, with a spaghetti dinner fundraiser preceding the show.

Niagara University Players present an all-student-run production of 'Time Stands Still'

From Feb. 22 through 24, the Niagara University Players will present an entirely student-run production of "Time Stands Still" by Donald Margulies in the Leary Theatre within the Elizabeth Ann Clune Center for Theatre, Clet Hall.

Directed by NU Theater Junior Nathan Andrew Miller, "Time Stands Still" is a funny, passionate, thought-provoking and heartbreaking piece of work. It is a look at war through the lens of a young couple brought together by the conflict in Iraq only to have their relationship challenged by it (the show contains adult subject matter).

Lewiston Council on the Arts launches 'Lewiston Discovery Series' Feb. 20

The Lewiston Council on the Arts has announced the "Lewiston Discovery Series," a new program for curious minds. The aim of the series is to share the "art of" an interesting mix of creative cultural topics. The series will be presented every other month beginning in February at the Historic Opera Hall, 732 Center St.

The programs will begin at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be offered. No advance registration is required. A suggested $5 donation will benefit the LCA and the Opera Hall restoration fund.
