Taste of Buffalo announces participating restaurants

The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops announced 27 restaurants/food trucks and two wineries - all veterans of past years - will participate in the 38th annual event, which will be held July 10-11 in downtown Buffalo.

In 2020, seven organizations joined together to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the founding of Le Magazin Royal, a French trading post located where Artpark stands today. Part of that commemoration involved the creation of a limited number of custom-designed medallions. Production was delayed due to the pandemic, but each organization recently received a medallion at the site of the early 18th century trading post.
'Spread the Love' food drives seek peanut butter donations for FeedMore WNY

In order to help FeedMore WNY replenish its depleted supply of donated food, the nonprofit's board of directors and community ambassador council are encouraging the community to support the upcoming "Spread the Love" peanut butter drives. The fundraisers will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturdays, May 22 and June 5, at various locations throughout FeedMore WNY's service area of Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties.

Last Thursday, demolition crews began tearing down the vacated structures located at 7001 Packard Road in the Town of Niagara. The location was most recently the site of Clancy's Restaurant. However, for many locals, the location will forever be remembered as the home of Page's Whistle Pig.

In the spring 2021 Hospital Safety Grade Report, they earned the only "A" safety grades in Erie and Niagara counties. In fact, Kenmore Mercy and Mount St. Mary's hospitals earned two of the 16 "A" grades given in all of New York.

On March 31, Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation legalizing adult use of cannabis throughout New York. During the announcement, Cuomo said the development of an adult-use cannabis industry in New York has, "The potential to create significant economic opportunities for New Yorkers and the state." Its estimated the industry could bring in $350 million in tax revenue each year and potentially create 30,000 to 60,000 jobs.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Thursday announced New York state will provide 1,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses and establish a new pop-up site targeting 16- to 25-year-olds in Buffalo. He also announced the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority will provide 1,000 day passes to help eligible residents reach the pop-up site.

On Thursday, Genesis announced their highly anticipated return to North America for the first time in 14 years with "The Last Domino?" tour dates that will have Tony Banks, Phil Collins and Mike Rutherford playing major cities across the U.S. and Canada this November and December. Kicking off at Chicago's United Center on Nov. 15, the group will be joined by Nic Collins on drums, and the band's long-time lead guitar and bass player Daryl Stuermer.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Tuesday announced New York state will adopt the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's new guidance on mask use for fully vaccinated people. The guidelines state fully vaccinated people - defined as two or more weeks after receiving the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine or the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine - no longer need to wear masks outdoors, except in certain crowded settings and venues.
