The free festival was supported by local community agencies and sponsored in part by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of Western New York, with concurrent festivals held in Chautauqua and Niagara counties.

Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced 34-year-old William A. Fugate of Buffalo was sentenced yesterday afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Sheila A. DiTullio to 3 1/2 to 7 years in prison. He was sentenced yesterday as a second felony offender.

The Grand Island Memorial Library is planning to add a reading garden to the grassy area next to the building that faces the parking lot. The library will be called the Richard Earne Memorial Reading Garden, as a tribute to the late Richard Earne, who was a member of the Grand Island Rotary Club, as well as a member of the library board of trustees. He died on Sept. 18, 2022.

On Tuesday, the Buffalo City Mission and Lloyd Taco Truck hosted the 10th annual "Christmas in July Luncheon" at the Alfiero Family Center of Hope and Promise. The event provided nearly 200 meals, which were given to the men's ministry at the Alfiero Family Center of Hope and Promise and the women's ministry located at Buffalo City Mission's Cornerstone Manor. All meals were donated in full by Lloyd Taco Truck.

Erie County Medical Center has again been recognized by the Lown Institute for outstanding social responsibility, receiving an "A" grade on the 2023-24 Lown Institute Hospitals Index.
