Structure fire in Town of Niagara

On Sunday, Jan. 26, at 10:35 p.m., the Town of Niagara Police responded to 69 Steele Circle for a reported garage structure fire. Responding officers were advised that there was a vehicle in the garage and there was one male party with burns.

Kathy Hochul announced state parks, historic sites, campgrounds and trails operated by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation saw a record 88.3 million visits in 2024. Total visits statewide surged by over 4 million, which is a 5% increase compared to the previous record year in 2023.

Wegmans customers donate $2.5 million to hunger relief

Customers of Wegmans Food Market stores raised more than $2.5 million during the company's fall 2024 hunger relief checkout scanning campaign, known regionally as "Check Out Hunger" or "Together Against Hunger." This campaign allows customers to donate any amount at checkout, with 100% of the proceeds going to each store's local Feeding America food bank partner.

NCSO: Abandoned dog found in dumpster

On Jan. 18, at approximately 12:44 p.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communication center received a 911 call reporting an abandoned dog in a dumpster behind Nelson's Café, 2298 River Road. Deputies responded and were able to retrieve the dog. The dog was turned over to the care of SPCA agent Rinehart.
