Niagara County to host Agribusiness Outreach Forum

The Niagara County Center for Economic Development will host the 2023 Agribusiness Outreach Forum from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, March 24, at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Training Center, 4487 Lake Ave., Lockport. Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced 34-year-old Marty M. Walton of North Tonawanda was sentenced yesterday afternoon before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges to 15 years in prison followed by 20 years of post-release supervision. He will be required to register as a sex offender upon his release.

Shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday morning, Niagara Falls police were contacted by an adult male that stated that he had just been the victim of an armed robbery in the area of 10th Street and Ferry Avenue. The victim stated that he had been struck in the head with a hammer, as well as having a gun pointed at him while he was being robbed of property.
Town of Niagara vehicle pursuit

Just before 2 a.m. Monday, Deputy Westmorland attempted to initiate a traffic stop for several vehicle and traffic law infractions. A vehicle failed to yield and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle fled through the Town of Niagara and into the City of Niagara Falls, where the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck an apartment building on the corner of Cayuga Drive and Mang Avenue.

Niagara County Legislator Chris Robins on Friday announced the legislature approved a resolution transferring a 2010 Sure Trac cargo trailer previously used by the Niagara County Department of Emergency Services to the Town of Niagara Active Hose Fire Co. The resolution, sponsored by Robins and Legislator Mark Grozio, passed unanimously.

Niagara County Community College expands child care; opens infant room

Niagara County Community College was awarded nearly $39,000 from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) to aid in the stabilization of the child care sector. The college used this grant to expand the John R. Oishei Childhood Development Center on the Sanborn campus, making room for a space dedicated to caring for infants.

Stabbing homicide in Niagara Falls

Shortly before 2 a.m. this morning, the Niagara Falls Police Department responded to a motel in the 9800 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard for a report of a woman stabbed. Upon arrival, officers found the body of a deceased 39-year-old female in one of the rooms.
Fatal shooting in Niagara Falls

At approximately 8:30 p.m. Monday, the Niagara Falls Police Department responded to Jordan Gardens for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located a 16-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
