Town of Niagara Active Hose was the scene of a mega meat and basket raffle to benefit Francis Center, a ministry of the Sisters of St. Francis at Stella Niagara. More than $3,000 worth of beef, pork, chicken and fish was up for grabs at the mid-October event, in addition to dozens of themed baskets.

Niagara County Legislator Randy Bradt announced registration is now open for the county's next household hazardous waste (HHW) collection event, which will be held Saturday, Nov. 4, in North Tonawanda. The county will also be offering paper shredding. The event is open to all Niagara County residents, but people must register in advance.

Shortly before 8 p.m. last night, in the 1100 block of 19th Street, a 26-year-old male suffered a gunshot wound to his arm and midsection. He was brought to NFMMC and then transported to ECMC for non-life-threatening injuries.
NYS: $49 million in state funding for airports
