Catholic Charities: Approximately $800,000 needed to reach Appeal 2023 goal by June 30

With about two weeks left in the annual campaign, Appeal 2023 is just over $813,000 away from reaching its $9.5 million goal by June 30. The annual Appeal in support of Catholic Charities and the "Fund for the Faith" is currently at $8,686,534, or more than 91% raised.

Catholic Health to open temporary emergency department in Lockport on June 18

To ensure continuity of emergency care for the local community, Catholic Health will open a temporary emergency department at 5875 S. Transit Road, Lockport, on June 18 at 12:01 a.m., following the closure of Eastern Niagara Hospital on June 17. Mount St. Mary's Hospital will operate the 24/7 emergency department until the new Lockport Memorial Hospital opens in September.
Lawmakers announce state grant for scenic overlook project in City of Tonawanda

New York State Sen. Sean Ryan and Assembly member Bill Conrad on Thursday announced $136,000 of funding from New York state to support the revitalization of an existing swing bridge abutment for use as a scenic overlook to the Erie Canal and the historic swing bridge in the City of Tonawanda.

Seven new merchants are opening their doors at Fashion Outlets of Niagara Falls USA, including four locally owned stores, two family attractions, and a food court restaurant. In addition, Elegant Fashion, a store that has been with the Fashion Outlets for many years, has relocated near Entrance 7. All merchants are expected to open prior to July. Each is located within the indoor portion of the center.

The Niagara County Department of Health (NCDOH) recommends that all residents take precautions to reduce health risks associated with the ongoing unhealthy air quality.
