Lewiston man going to prison on meth charge

U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced today that Joseph Wedge, 43, of Lewiston, who was convicted of attempted possession with intent to distribute of methamphetamine, was sentenced to serve 36 months in prison by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara.

On Wednesday, Niagara County Legislature Majority Leader Randy Bradt stated, "New York City has discontinued its lawsuit against Niagara County over the emergency order that essentially prevented the city from sending migrants to be housed in Niagara County hotels."

Shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday night, Niagara Falls Police Department patrol responded to 9101 Niagara Falls Blvd., for a man stabbed. A 30-year-old Niagara Falls man suffered multiple stab wounds and reported he was stabbed while at the rear of the address. He was transported to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center, then transferred to ECMC where he is in stable condition.

At 12:43 a.m. Wednesday, Deputy Westmorland attempted to initiate a traffic stop on Saunders Settlement Road for speed and an equipment violation. The vehicle failed to yield to the deputy's emergency lights and siren, subsequently initiating a vehicle pursuit.

The Levesque Institute at Niagara University, as part of a coalition of diverse organizations committed to the revitalization of the City of Niagara Falls, has formed a Niagara Falls neighborhood evaluation committee. The committee's first project is a comprehensive data collection that will provide information for a future neighborhood assessment to evaluate housing market conditions in the midtown area of the City of Niagara Falls.

Niagara County: Seaman announces murder conviction

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced Antonio Carr, age 30, of Niagara Falls, was sentenced this morning to a term of 45 years to life in State Prison. Carr was convicted in May of this year of murder in the second degree and multiple weapons charges in the slaying of 57-year-old Tracy Greene at the victim's barbershop in Niagara Falls on Oct. 2, 2021.
