Wild Kritters of Niagara County has set the date and location of for its annual basket raffle. The fundraiser is set for Sunday, June 4, at the 3F Conservation Club, 904 Swann Road, Youngstown. Tickets go on sale at noon, with the drawing beginning at 4 p.m.
SUNY chancellor recognizes local NCCC student

NCCC sophomore Gabrielle Kramer was one of 46 students across the state who were recognized with the Norman R. McConney, Jr. Award for Student Excellence. Presented by the State University of New York (SUNY) Chancellor John B. King Jr., this award identifies the achievements of Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) students who are in pursuit of their associate and bachelor's degrees.
Niagara County accepting applications for correction officer positions

As Niagara County prepares to recruit its next round of correction officers, it is continuing to take part in a state pilot program, begun last year, which scores candidates on baseline criteria like training and experience, and eliminates the need to take a civil service exam. Niagara County is one of 40 counties participating in this effort.

The NCCC Film & Animation Festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at the college's Sanborn campus, 3111 Saunders Settlement Road. The event features film and animation screenings, workshops, music, movie trivia contests, exhibits, food and refreshments. Admission to the festival is free and open to the public.

Special Olympics returned to Niagara University campus

After three years, due to COVID-19 and renovations to its recreation center, Niagara University once again hosted the Special Olympics New York's Western Regional Basketball Tournament on its campus. The tournament took place Saturday, April 22, in the university's Kiernan Recreation Center.
Niagara County clerk issues final call for Purple Heart veterans to be included in August ceremony

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski said Niagara County will once again honor Purple Heart veterans by adding their name to county's Book of Honor at a ceremony to be held Sunday, Aug. 6. Jastrzemski said any Purple Heart veterans (or their family members) who are not currently in the book need to come forward by May 1 to be included in this year's ceremony.
EPIC receives $1.8 million to open family opportunity centers in 2 counties

EPIC-Every Person Influences Children has received support from the Office of Children and Family Services Family Opportunity Center. EPIC was awarded $1.8 million in funding over the next three years to open centers in Niagara and Cattaraugus counties.

(NORLIC) - often referred to as the Land Bank - has been awarded a $1.4 million grant by the New York State Housing Trust Fund Corp. and NYS Homes and Community Renewal. Student persuades NCCC administration to adopt composting program

During the spring 2022 semester, several NCCC students from professor Marc Pietrzykowski's writing for STEM class completed a group research project about waste management at NCCC. Inspired, one of the group members, Meredith Preve, lifted the words from their paper and molded them into a new, hands-on project at the college.
