New lights installed at Center and Fifth

Brand-new traffic lights and street signs have been installed at the intersection of Center and Fifth streets in the Village of Lewiston. This is part of the streetscape project that began in 2022, and was funded by the New York State Department of Transportation.

Niagara University receives grants totaling $500,000 from Mother Cabrini Foundation

Niagara University has received a $300,000 grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation to continue and enhance work done by its College of Nursing to foster nurse resilience, effectively bridge the transition from student to health care professional, address a critical shortage in the nursing workforce, increase awareness of health inequities, and develop effective approaches to care in complex environments across Western New York, with an emphasis on Niagara County.

The Niagara Falls Police Department is searching for 15-year-old Lorelai R. Russell, who was reported missing on Tuesday. Lorelai was last seen wearing a gray hoodie with anime characters, and sweatpants. She is 5 feet, 2 inches tall; approximately 80 pounds; and possibly traveling out of state and considered vulnerable.

Congressman Brian Higgins announced the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) has been awarded a $450,000 federal grant. The funding, made possible through the "Bipartisan Infrastructure Law," supports NFTA's development of a regional safety action plan for Erie and Niagara counties.

NCSO: Incarcerated individual dies

On Friday, Jan. 20, at approximately 8:03 p.m., EMS crews from Wrights Corners Fire Co. and Mercy Ambulance responded to the Niagara County Correctional Facility for an unresponsive incarcerated individual following an apparent medical emergency and possible overdose.
