Village of Lewiston to resume 'sandwich board' sign talks

More than 70 4-H youth and their families attended an animal safety meeting Wednesday night hosted by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Niagara County (CCE-Niagara) and the Niagara County Agricultural Rights Advisory Panel. The meeting was to discuss the upcoming Niagara County Fair and the proper protocols for the 4-H youth to interact with the public in a way that keeps both fairgoers and the animals safe.

Niagara County Department of Public Works Commissioner Garret Meal announced a section of West Somerset Road, between Hess and Hosmer roads, in the Town of Newfane, will be closed to all motorists, except local traffic, beginning Monday, July 17. Niagara County Department of Health reports rabid bat in City of North Tonawanda

The Niagara County Department of Health (NCDOH) confirmed a rabid bat on Porter Avenue, City of North Tonawanda, on July 3. Three domestic cats came in contact with a bat that tested positive for rabies. As a result of the incident, the cats received required rabies booster vaccines and must quarantine for a time prescribed in the New York State Sanitary Code.
