Guilty verdict in Niagara County murder case

Niagara County District Attorney Brian D. Seaman announced that Gilbert Cruz, age 35, of Niagara Falls, plead guilty this morning to the charge of murder in the second degree. Cruz admitted to murdering 57-year-old Timothy Weymer in Niagara Falls on Feb. 7, 2022.
'Big R': John Susice Street Stock Memorial and go-kart exhibition this Friday night

This coming Friday night, Ransomville Speedway will be honoring and remembering John Susice with the John Susice Memorial for the KiPo Motors Street Stocks. A full Ransomville racing program will also be presented, as well as the "Little R" go-kart exhibition. Modern Disposal and Shelby Crushed Stone will present the racing action.

NCSO investigating Niagara River death

On Aug. 4, 2023, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communications center received a 911 call reporting two bodies were floating in the Niagara River in front of the New York Power Authority at 5777 Lewiston Road in the Town of Lewiston. The New York State Police assisted and were able to locate the bodies floating in the water by Stella Niagara.
NWF recognizes Porter for improvements at POTL town park

­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­As it readies for a Aug. 9 ribbon-cutting of a new exercise court at Porter on the Lake Park, the Town of Porter announced it received national recognition for ongoing environmental improvements completed at the lakeside park. Supervisor John "Duffy" Johnston said the town was recognized by the National Wildlife Federation for its efforts in creating a Certified Wildlife Habitat at POTL through NWF's Garden for Wildlife movement.

It doesn't escape me that this typographical method reflects the standard the performing, visual, educational and environmental arts venue has set by jam-packing summers with concerts, walks, tours and talks.

U.S. Attorney Trini E. Ross announced Frank R. Parlato, Jr., 68, who was convicted of willful failure to file returns involving cash transactions of more than $10,000, was sentenced to serve one-year supervised release, to include five months home detention, and fined $10,000 by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara. Parlato also agreed to forfeit $1,000,138 and will pay $184,939 in restitution to the IRS.

Max and Brook were planning to get rid of years' worth of clutter from their Niagara Falls home, including furniture, clothing and even a set of snow tires. They got to planning and decided to include their neighbors. They made a flyer and hand-delivered them to people they knew around the block. The response was positive, and they decided to post a yard sign on a few lawns to see if there was extended interest.

Historical Society receives Greater Hudson Heritage Network Supplies Grant
