It's become a Christmas tradition for my sister Teenie and I to go to Theatre in the Mist's annual holiday show. We always leave filled with holiday spirit and ready to kickoff our own Christmas preparations.

New York Power Authority fishing piers to close for winter

The public-access fishing pier at the base of the New York Power Authority's Robert Moses Niagara Power Plant, the main generating facility at the Niagara Hydroelectric Power Plant, will close for the winter season Monday, Dec. 9. Weather permitting, it will still be open this weekend, Dec. 7-8.

One fish in Niagara River from Sargasso Sea

This is a story I said I was going to tell readers about earlier this year. The Sargasso Sea is a region of calm water somewhere near the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, off our east coast. The Gulf Stream touches the edge of the Sargasso. It is recognized by its deep blue color and by the seaweed and other non-biodegradable junk that floats at its top.
