On Sept. 28, at approximately 22:27 hours, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communications center received a radio transmission from Deputy Kenny, an off-duty Niagara County Sheriff's Office deputy, reporting a motor vehicle accident with serious injury at the intersection of Lockport-Cambria Townline Road and Upper Mountain Road in the Town of Cambria.

Niagara County Clerk Joseph A. Jastrzemski and Orleans County Clerk Nadine P. Hanlon announced the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles has begun sending out driver's license suspension notices to the 95,000 motorists who renewed their license between March 1, 2020, and Aug. 31, 2021, by self-certifying their vision, but have failed to submit the results.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Neighborhood Health Center's annual Christmas Shoppe, led by Sister Nora Sweeney. The Christmas Shoppe assists needy families in the region during the holidays.
Mount St. Mary's Child Care Center celebrates 35th anniversary with open house

The center, which provides services for children ages infant on up, opened its doors adjacent to Catholic Health's Mount St. Mary's Hospital in 1988. To celebrate this occasion, the center will hold an open house for the community from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served and there will be fun for the whole family.

Earlier this month, a group of golfers from the Niagara County area visited the Southern Tier for a good cause. Organized by Town of Porter Supervisor John "Duffy" Johnston, the Southern Tier Camp Challenge held at the Allegheny Hills Golf Club in Rushford honored the memory of Jeffery C. Hessney, who died on May 11 at age 64 in Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Tourism spending reaches $969 million in Niagara County for 2022

Earlier this month, the New York state-commissioned Tourism Economics research study for 2022 was released, detailing the economic impact of tourism across the state. The study revealed that the total traveler spend in Niagara County in 2022 reached $969 million, which is an increase of 16.5% relative to 2021.
