Motor-vehicle crash in Porter

On Saturday, June 3, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communications center received a 911 call reporting a single motor-vehicle accident into a barn in the area of Braley Road and Dickersonville Road in the Town of Porter. Before deputies arrived on scene, the single male occupant was able to extricate himself from the vehicle and walk out of the semi-demolished barn.

The new Lewiston Artisan Farmers Market's season had a smooth start, organizer Jamie Symmonds of Willow Consulting said Saturday. Crowds were out in full force stocking up on fresh produce, flowers, honey and sweet treats, while sampling breakfast sandwiches, listening to live music, and interacting with Nickel City Canine Rescue dogs.

Retired Lewiston-Porter teacher John Loss has written a book on 13 Niagara Falls residents who experienced being homeless many times in their lives. He said the idea for "...Not Always Homeless" came to him as he would see homeless individuals in and around his hometown of Niagara Falls. Loss knew they were not always homeless, so he decided to write a book about them.

Niagara County Legislator David Godfrey announced the county's personnel office is implementing decentralized continuous recruitment exams to make it easier for residents seeking employment to apply for certain county positions throughout the year. On May 30, at 3:48 a.m. the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communications division received a 911 call reporting a residential structure fire in Sanborn. It was reported that an attached garage was on fire and the home was believed to be occupied.

NFFP responds to fire

At 1:37 a.m. Wednesday, the Niagara Falls Fire Department responded to a fire at 7211 Stephenson Ave. Upon arrival, fire personnel found heavy fire coming out of the windows on the right side and in the rear of the building. Upon investigation, it was determined the cause of the fire was not accidental.
