Gearing up for the summer tourist season, the Village of Youngstown is taking steps to address an expected increase in visitors from such attractions as Niagara Jet Adventures and Old Fort Niagara.

"We've been experiencing some growing pains," Mayor Raleigh Reynolds said. He and Trustee Tim Lockhart spoke on the moves Youngstown is now considering to address the issues of traffic, increased pedestrians and greater activity in the village.

"We're trying to anticipate things," Reynolds said, adding he intends to sit down with NJA owner Chris Bohnenkamp when he returns from Idaho this spring to discuss matters. Among them: the issue of shuttle buses, drop-off and parking locations, and better managing pedestrian traffic to avoid intrusions to private properties, while at the same time providing greater opportunity for visitors to experience the village.
