Dogs were barking up the right tree at the Niagara County SPCA's fourth annual holiday party, held from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Elk's Lodge in the Town of Niagara.

Animal enthusiasts brought their dogs (and even a brave cat or two) for photos with Santa. For the human visitors, there was a basket raffle, bake sale and puppy-kissing booth. A few local vendors also were on site, offering a portion of the day's proceeds to support the group.

"I think (the turnout) was tremendous," said Amy Lewis, executive director of the Niagara County SPCA. "This was certainly our biggest year yet."

She said the group raised about $6,600 this year, all of which goes toward supporting the SPCA's no-kill mission.
