This year's Lewiston Jazz Festival will take place on Friday, Aug. 24, from 5 to 10:30 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 25, from noon to 10 p.m. on Center Street. Admission, parking, and shuttles to the festival from Artpark's lower level parking lot are all free.

Headliners this year include Cyrus Chestnut, who performs on Friday at 8:30 p.m. and Diane Schuur, who performs on Saturday at 8 p.m.

Chestnut is an accomplished jazz pianist who has performed with Wynton Marsalis, Jon Hendricks, and Chick Corea, and has collaborated with Vanessa Williams, Freddy Cole, Bette Midler and Isaac Hayes.

Schuur, a five-time Grammy-nominated pianist and singer and two-time Grammy winner, has collaborated with performers including B.B. King, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Maynard Ferguson, and the Count Basie Orchestra.

Plenty of other groups will be performing throughout the event as well. Each day, jazz musicians and musical groups will perform at five different locations, the M&T Bank Rising Star Stage on Sixth and Center streets, the Main Stage on Fourth and Center streets, Lewiston Peace Garden at the Village Courtyard, the DiCamillo Bakery Courtyard, and the Frontier House.

Visitors will also enjoy food, shopping, and a car show. Many Lewiston and regional chefs will prepare area delicacies such as beef on weck as well as other dishes, such as grilled ravioli, rice balls, and Greek souvlaki.

A jewelry show will be located on the corner of South Fifth and Center streets on Friday, from 5 to 10:30 p.m., and Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. It will feature vendors offering everything from vintage to contemporary pieces.

Those looking for signature Jazz Festival apparel and wearables can visit the Jazz Shoppe, located in front of Stuart Sports near North Fifth Street at 486 Center St. A classic car show will also be located along Center Street from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, with vintage Jaguars, as well as British, European collector, and special interest cars.
