Last August, a tollhouse used at Lewiston's suspension bridge to Canada was gifted to the Historical Association of Lewiston. The building was placed in the driveway of Clerk Anne Welch whose husband, Bob, a HAL volunteer, worked to refurbish the unit.

On Wednesday, May 30, the tollhouse was transported to its new home in Academy Park. It is situated next to the Lewiston Welcome Center.

Watch the move in the video below.

The tollhouse was sitting in Cambria resident Bruno DiBella's backyard. A gift to the former homeowner, who served as a toll-taker, the booth was transported to Cambria after the bridge was torn down in 1962.

HAL President Bruce Sutherland organized the transport. Emery Simon, of Simon Construction, donated his time and equipment to facilitate the move.

On Friday, June 1, a dedication ceremony took place at the Welcome Center. Local leaders and members of the community were on hand to watch Lewiston Mayor Terry Collesano receive the key to the tollhouse from Sutherland.
