Demolition began this week on the Cold Storage building located at 701 Nancy Price Drive, in the Village of Youngstown.
In a letter to residents, Mayor Rob Reisman wrote, “This is part of our ongoing efforts to improve the area and make it more vibrant for the community.”
On Wednesday morning, workers from Regional Environmental Demolition Inc. were on the site as preliminary work got underway.
“Please be aware that, during the demolition, there may be some noise or other activities as the structure is removed,” Reisman said. “We will do our best to minimize disruptions and ensure safety throughout the process. Village officials will be closely monitoring this project to ensure everything goes smoothly for our residents.”
According to news reports, the work follows final approval from the Village of Youngstown board last month on the sale of a 2-acre-plus property to Anthony DeMiglio, owner of ANT/RUSS properties. DeMiglio submitted plans to build a new housing development of 17 units to be known as Riverview Landing. (Photo by Terry Duffy)
