Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center announce its training affiliation agreement with the 914th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, based at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, is now officially underway with the first squadron members beginning clinical training at the hospital.

The collaboration, initially announced in November 2024, enhances clinical training opportunities for the squadron’s flight nurses and medical technicians, strengthening their operational readiness and professional development, while reinforcing ties between NFMMC and the local military community.

Under the agreement, 914th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron members will complete clinical rotations at NFMMC in key hospital settings, including the emergency department, intensive care units, medical/surgical floors, and outpatient clinics. The program brings 20 to 30 highly skilled flight nurses and medical technicians to the hospital annually for hands-on training in critical care, emergency response, and advanced nursing skills.

“Welcoming the first squadron members to NFMMC is a significant step in our collaboration,” said Joseph Ruffolo, NFMMC president and CEO. “This hands-on training not only sharpens their critical care skills, but also strengthens our bond with the military community we are proud to support.”

As the closest full-service hospital to the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, NFMMC is uniquely positioned to support the 914th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron’s training needs. With its Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP) certification and comprehensive clinical resources, the hospital offers a high-quality learning environment essential for military medical readiness.

“This hands-on training will ensure our flight nurses and medical technicians are well-prepared to provide critical in-flight medical care when duty calls,” said Lt. Col. Gregory Sell, commander of the 914th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. “We are grateful for this collaboration and look forward to seeing our members gain valuable experience in Memorial’s dynamic health care setting.”

This program is designed to provide essential training at no cost to the U.S. Air Force, ensuring that squadron participation does not displace NFMMC employees or disrupt existing service contracts.
