Information Submitted by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office
At 8:41 a.m. Tuesday morning, the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office communications division received a 9-1-1 call reporting a motor vehicle that had crashed into a house in the 400 block of Kenwood Drive. On arrival, deputies confirmed there were no injuries to either the occupants of the residence or the single occupant of the motor vehicle.
Deputies then called out Village of Lewiston Building Inspector Ken Candella to assess the structural integrity of the residence.
Upon police investigation, it was determined the vehicle was travelling north on North Fifth Street when it left the roadway, crossed over the median and through the southbound lane. It continued into a yard, where it struck some small trees, a fence, and then ultimately came to rest after crashing into the residence.
Deputies arrested the operator of the vehicle, a 57-year-old male from the Town of Lewiston. He was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs (misdemeanor), and issued several tickets for vehicle and traffic law infractions.
This individual was transported to the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Facility to await centralized arraignment.
