On Jan. 18, at approximately 12:44 p.m., the Niagara County Sheriff's Office communication center received a 911 call reporting an abandoned dog in a dumpster behind Nelson’s Café, 2298 River Road. Deputies responded and were able to retrieve the dog. The dog was turned over to the care of SPCA agent Rinehart.
Investigation revealed the dog was abandoned shortly after 2 a.m. by the occupant(s) of a dark-colored truck.
