Macerich's Fashion Outlets Niagara Falls USA recently held its third annual Earth Day Dumpster Mural contest, in partnership with Guard Contracting Corp. The contest featured artwork from two local schools demonstrating their vision of Earth Day. Students created murals on Dumpsters in the Military Road parking lot.

This year's winners were students from Tonawanda High School, making the school back-to-back winners of the contest. Team members received a $500 prize.

Second place went to participants from the Charter Middle School for Applied Technologies, who won $250.

"We've seen great success with the Dumpster Mural Contest in years past. Not only does it teach students about the importance of Earth Day in a fun and unique way, but it also encourages their creativity and teamwork as they design the Dumpster," said Guard Contracting Waste Services Manager Craig Mahoney in a release announcing the contest. "We appreciate Fashion Outlets Niagara Falls offering up their space for the sizable Dumpsters, and are thrilled to contribute to the community together with this contest."
