Niagara EDGE Run/Walk to award two scholarships

A unique running event that offers scholarship assistance to two graduating high school seniors is now accepting registrations from runners and walkers of all ages.

The Niagara EDGE 5K/10K Run and 1 Mile Walk will take place at 10 a.m. May 21 at the Summit Healthplex, 6934 Williams Road, Niagara Falls.

A $500 scholarship will be awarded to both the top male and top female 12th-grade finishers in the 5K race.  Trophies will be presented to the first-place overall male and female finishers. Awards will be presented to the top male and female 5K/10K runners in each of 13 age groups. 

Proceeds from the event will benefit the UBMD Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Concussion Clinic, and Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center's athletic training and physical therapy programs.

Entry fee is $35 for 10K run, $25 for the 5K run and $20 for the 1-mile walk for those who register before May 19.  For information or to register, visit niagaraedge5k.itsyourrace.com.
