Fri, Apr 21st 2017 03:10 pm

Aceti's Wine & Spirits will host author John Aceti at a wine tasting and book signing Saturday, April 22, from 2 to 6 p.m.

John Aceti is the uncle of Sam Aceti, owner of Aceti's Wine & Spirits, 2156 Grand Island Blvd. Sam said the store will have more than 30 wines to taste at the event. Admission is free.

Sam said his uncle has travelled all over the world, literally, from the North Pole to South Pole. He and his wife Carol have served as volunteers in China, Italy and Poland as teachers of English as a second language. They also have participated in mission awareness programs in El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Bolivia.

A Western New York native, John will be signing books at the store. He is the author of "The Ambassadors of the Texas Hill Country" and "Wineries of the Texas Hill Country" (pictured at right).

John Aceti was born in Niagara Falls and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia and his master's degree from the University at Buffalo. He worked as a teacher and school administrator for 34 years.

He retired to the Texas Hill Country in 1993.

John Aceti, a longtime Rotarian, spoke at Wednesday night's meeting of the Grand Island Rotary Club.
