D. Denise McGrath of Nyack, New York, originally from Lewiston, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, surrounded by family and friends following a short but valiant battle with cancer.

She felt her greatest accomplishments were her two children: Lindsley Newbury (Brent) and John Conace (Elizabeth). Her only regret was not having more time to spend with the love of her life, her granddaughter Lucia.

McGrath is also survived by four loving sisters: Marcia Malecki, Marilyn Pedley (Jerry), Nancy Clark (Randy) and Jane McGrath; her best friend, Britta Voss; "adopted" grandchildren Marlowe, Penelope, Lauren and Ben Voss; step-grandchildren Samantha, Sydney, Daulton and Stella Newbury; her mother-in-law, Elaine Conace; many nieces and nephews; and a very dear group of friends.

She was predeceased by both parents, John and Doris McGrath.

McGrath was a great mother, sister, friend and confidant who was loved so dearly by many. She had class, a sharp wit, a great sense of humor, a unique style, eclectic personality, amazing blue eyes and a liberal view. McGrath was an extremely talented and creative lady. She loved her family and friends, great books, British television, gardening, a good cocktail and her adopted hometown of Nyack.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Nyack Center, People to People, or to a charity of your choice.
