Saturday at Niagara Falls High School, there were four games played that had been postponed due to rain, weeks prior. Teams took advantage of the turf fields and made up crucial league games.

It was a busy day in the athletic complex, as there was a track meet and make-up softball games that were being made up for the same reasons as baseball.

The first of baseball four games was between Lockport Lions and the Kenmore West Blue Devils. The Lions used 15 hits to fuel a 10-6 victory over the Blue Devils.

In the victory, Lockport's 1-4 hitters racked up seven RBIs, including three from pitcher Brian Chatt. That part of the order also batted .500 for the day, going 9-18.

Chatt was also consistent on the mound, as he struck out eight batters over six innings of work.

For the Blue Devils, Ben Serrano led the offense, driving in 5 of the 6 runs. Three of them came off his opposite-field home run in the third inning.

Ken-West had a chance to break loose in the bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded, and the top of the order up, leadoff hitter Kyle LaPlante flew out to centerfield to end the game.

The second game featured Niagara-Wheatfield vs. Kenmore East. The Falcons dominated offensively and defensively in their first NFL win of the year, winning 9-1 over the Bulldogs

At the plate, Ethan Guthrie led the charge with 4 RBIs, two of them coming on one swing of the bat. Guthrie's towering 2-run homerun over the left field fence in the second inning put N-W up for good.

On the mound, four Falcons pitchers held the Bulldogs offense to three hits. Starter James Filipelli threw three innings and got eight of his nine outs via strikeout. Nick Clouden relieved with two innings of one-hit ball. Then, Billy Scullion and Ryan Howard threw an inning apiece, and got all their outs via strikeout.

The third game of the day was Grand Island vs. Charter School of Applied Technologies. The Vikings held on to defeat the Eagles, 8-4. Derek Callen got the win on the mound, going 3 1/3 innings.

Grand Island got good offensive contributions from Tyler Muggli, Art Meaney and Cam Sionko, as all three drove in two runs apiece. Carson Suffoletta also added two hits and two stolen bases.

The last game of the day was between North Tonawanda and CSAT. The Lumberjacks defeated the Eagles, 6-1, behind a dominant pitching performance from Colin Hebeler.

The senior threw five innings, striking out eight and allowing only one hit. Jacob Warriner and Nick Cook relieved Hebeler to close the door.

Joseph Kish gave Hebeler all the run support he needed, providing two RBIs. The biggest one came in the third inning when he laced a triple to the wall, driving in Casey Trombley from first base.

Kyle Toth and Antonio Labarbera also added a hit and an RBI in the victory.
