Niagara County's annual spring career fair - where local job-seekers are paired with local employers looking for quality workers - will be held Wednesday, Director of Employment and Training Department Donald Jablonski said.

Hiring representatives from 63 businesses will be on-hand, hoping to fill positions in a broad cross-section of local industries.

The spring career fair follows a successful job fair held in October, which saw 29 attendees hired into positions with area companies. Jablonski noted 421 individuals attended the fall career fair, with 97 being interviewed for positions.

Jablonski is anticipating even higher turnout at Wednesday's event.

"Our job fairs put potential employers and potential employees in the same room, and provide them with an opportunity to interact in ways the traditional job application process just doesn't," he said. "We are always pleased when we produce a 'match.' "

County Legislator Rich Andres, R-North Tonawanda, noted an improving national economy is good news for job-seekers.

"The February Department of Labor jobs report was welcome news - actual hiring was well above projections, even, and certain sectors are showing more life than they have in years," he said. "This is good news for people seeking new opportunities. If you're looking for work, if you're looking to re-enter the job market, if you're looking for a change, Niagara County government is giving you the opportunity to come out and meet our local employers, and hopefully begin the hiring process."

The fair runs from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Four Points, 7001 Buffalo Ave.
