March is Cerebral Palsy (CP) Awareness Month. More than 750,000 people in the U.S. are affected by this disability.

One Western New York nonprofit is taking a stand against the medical condition. Make Lemon Aide Foundation for CP has been a driving force in raising funds and awareness to help bring a cutting-edge therapy protocol to Western New York.

The foundation is gearing up for its largest annual event, the Walk/Run/Roll in Lauren's Shoes 5K/1Mile. The event is set for Sunday, June 11, at Buffalo's Outer Harbor. For more information, visit http://www.makelemonaide.org/, and click on the "Events" tab.

The nonprofit was started by 18-year-old Lauren Walier, a vibrant, young woman living with CP, who learned there was no federal funding for CP research.

In recognition of CP awareness and Make Lemon Aide Foundation, the Peace Bridge will be colored green on March 25 - National CP Awareness Day.
