Buffalo home improvement expert Dominic Cortese recently stopped into the Niagara Career and Technical Education Center to spend some time talking to the building trades students in Anthony Molinaro's and Gary Benker's respective classes.

Cortese runs Cortese Construction Services Corp., and also has a show on WBEN-AM 930 radio, where he discusses home improvements. Cortese Construction deals with home improvements, general contracting, construction and home remodeling. The company has been in existence since 1951.

Cortese spoke to the students about his company's history, his background and how his children help him to run the business.

"Mr. Cortese stressed the importance of postsecondary education and how it makes them more marketable as employees in today's economy," Molinaro said. "I think the biggest piece that the students took from the presentation was the importance of self-worth and understanding how a potential employer views their own company, relative to who they hire and the key to personal success or business success. I am very grateful to him for spending time with our students."
