Several Niagara County office buildings are closed indefinitely due to the impact of Wednesday's windstorms, which has left them without power or telephone service.

Affected by the closure are the Niagara County Courthouse, 175 Hawley St.; the Civil Defense Building, 139 Niagara St.; and several nearby outbuildings. Employees at those sites will not report to work.

Among the agencies impacted:

  • County Attorney
  • County Clerk
  • Commissioner of Jurors
  • Courtrooms
  • District Attorney
  • Legislature Clerk
  • Historian
  • Public Defender
  • Pistol Permit

Other government services in Lockport and throughout the county remain open, including the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Board of Elections, the Office for the Aging, and Social Services.

The closures will remain in effect until further notice.
