Leadership Niagara announces 2017 honorees

Leadership Niagara's 27th annual awards luncheon will bring regional leaders together at The Conference & Event Center Niagara Falls on Wednesday, April 19, to honor five individuals and organizations who exemplify the organization's mission and core values:

Leader of the Year - Sara Capen, Leadership Niagara Class of 2016, Niagara Falls National Heritage Area

Organizations of the Year - Niagara Gazette & Lockport Union-Sun & Journal

Distinguished Alumni Award - Capt. Kristen Neubauer (Ret.), LN '10, Niagara County Sheriff's Office

Emerging Leader Award - Bernice Radle, Buffalove Development

Lifetime Achievement Award - Paul Vermette, Ph.D., Niagara University

Christopher Marra, '15, of M&T Bank, and Susan Swiatkowski, '15, of The Conference & Event Center of Niagara Falls, will serve as co-chairs of the event.

"Leadership Niagara is privileged to honor these great community leaders for the hard work and valuable contributions they have made to make the Niagara Region a world-class community to live, work, raise a family and grow a business,"

Leadership Niagara, now in its 33rd year, is the longest-running community leadership program in New York. It provides practical and in-depth, graduate-level leadership development, coaching and mentoring, and discussions on regional issues and industries. The organization's mission is to strengthen regional leadership.

More than 1,600 youth and adults have graduated from Leadership Niagara since 1984.
