Just after 3 a.m. Monday morning, The Lewiston Police Department received a call for a stabbing at 4940 Indian Hill Road. Upon arrival, patrol found Evan Stafford, 27, lying in the driveway.

As patrols approached Stafford, he got up and patrol observed what appeared to be numerous lacerations to his torso. As ambulance personnel were tending to Stafford, the suspect, Raymond Printup, 27, emerged from the words nearby, surrendered to police, and was taken into custody without incident.

Printup was arraigned at Lewiston Town Court on charges of assault, first degree. Bail was set at $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.

Stafford was transported to Mount St. Mary's Hospital by Upper Mountain Fire Co., and was later transferred in critical condition to Erie County Medical Center.

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office and New York State Troopers assisted LPD officers at the scene.
