St. Johnsburg holds installation of officers

The St. Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Co. and its Ladies Auxiliary recently held the annual installation of officers at the St. Johnsburg Firehall, 7165 Ward Road.

The invocation was given by the Rev. Michael Borgstede of St. John Lutheran Church. Words of welcome and the pledge to the flag were led by St. Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Co. President Michael Hefferon.

Chief of St. Johnsburg Volunteer Fire Co. Richard Kennerson of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station installed the following officers of the fire company for 2017: Hefferon, president; Robert Walker, vice president; Cathy Donner, recording secretary; Al Dworzanski, financial secretary; Tim Pytlik, treasurer; Rich Kratts, assistant treasurer; Darren Siegmann, Rodney Siegmann and Brenda Golaszewski, sergeant at arms.

The board of directors includes Tom Downing (chairman), Ron Dworzanki, Joe Connell, Scott Hefferon and Kevin Doucet.

Line officers include newly elected Chief Richard Donner, First Assistant Chief Matt Siegmann, Second Assistant Chief Adam Donner, Third Assistant Chief Bob Connery, Capt. Mark Boudeau and Lt. Bob Gajewski.

Ladies Auxiliary officers, also installed by Kennerson, include Arlene Mante, president; Cheryl Turner, vice president; Peggy Bauer, recording secretary; Debbie Collins, financial secretary; Janice Vertieb, treasurer; and Mary Jane Ziomek, sergeant at arms.

Board of trustees members include Carol Donner, Mary Jane Ziomek, Jill Mordick, Barb Sowinski, Sue Quarantiella and Linda Connell.

St. Johnsburg Fire Co. benevolent directors are Brenda Golaszewski, Michael Hefferon and Michael Scive.

Invited guests were Maddi Genoverse, community relations director representing New York State Sen. Rob Ortt; Darrell and Karen Thompson, representing the Niagara County fire coordinators office; Hallie Dworzanski, queen of the 2017 Western New York Volunteers Fire Convention; and Hallee Mack, princess of the 2017 Western New York Volunteers Fire Convention.

Also invited were Town of Wheatfield officials and officers of the Adams, Bergholz and Shawnee fire companies.

Basket auction set for March 5

The St. Johnsburg Ladies Auxiliary will hold a theme basket auction on Sunday, March 5, at St. Johnsburg Firehall, 7165 Ward Road, Wheatfield.

Door prizes and raffles will be featured. Lunch items will also be available.

Doors open at 11 a.m. and drawings will begin at 2 p.m.

Admission is $5 and includes 25 tickets and a beverage and dessert. Additional tickets will cost $4 for 25.
