The Special Friends of Oakwood Cemetery committee will hold its monthly meeting at 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13, in the Oakwood House, 763 Portage Road, Niagara Falls. The committee meets on the second Monday of the month for an hour to discuss the volunteer needs of Oakwood.
Whitney Mallam is committee chair. The meeting is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Free on-site parking is available.
The purpose of the committee is to enlist volunteer participants who are willing and able to support events and projects authorized by the Oakwood Cemetery Association board of directors and the Oakwood Cemetery Heritage Foundation Inc.
The committee agenda will include the search for volunteers who have a variety of skills to share: data input; gardening; office procedures; event planning and procedures; and creative arts. At this meeting, event volunteers and those with scrapbooking expertise are also encouraged to attend.
Those interested in volunteering to support the history of the Niagara Region, and those seeking more information, can contact Trudy Christman, committee co-chair, at 716-946-3196 or visit www.myoakwoodcemetery.com.
