Work session on solar law slated for Dec. 19

Fri, Dec 16th 2016 11:00 am

The Town of Wheatfield will hold a work session regarding the town's proposed solar law at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at Town Hall, 2800, Church Road.

"We have a committee of volunteers working to come up with the best solar law for the majority of Wheatfield residents," Supervisor Robert B. Cliffe said in a press release Monday. "Their work product has been passed along to the Comprehensive Planning Task Force and through the Planning Board for comment, and is now before the Town Board."

A public hearing on the proposed law was held Dec. 5, and the law could be enacted at the Town Board meeting on Dec. 19, Cliffe said.

He added, "This is an important and extensive law which may affect many homeowners and farmers in coming years. I strongly encourage your participation at this work session, and encourage developers of solar collection systems to share your view as well."

For the latest version of the proposed solar law, visit www.wheatfield.ny.us or pick up a hard copy at the town clerk's office.
