Niagara County Sheriff's Office hosts 'Shop with a Cop'

The Niagara County Sheriff's Office hosted its fifth annual "Shop with a Cop" event Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Walmart store on South Transit Road in Lockport.

Held in conjunction with Walmart, "Shop with a Cop" pairs up children with sheriff's deputies who travel with them to the store to shop for gifts from themselves and family members. At the conclusion of the shopping experience, children were treated to a lunch provided by Walmart.

"This annual event is all about the children and building a positive relationship with both them and their families," Niagara County Sheriff James R. Voutour said. "The deputies who participated in this event volunteer their time and look forward to it every year. We are grateful for the staff at the Lockport Walmart and the continuous support they provide to make this event a success."

"Shop with a Cop" is made possible by a community grant from the Walmart Foundation to the sheriff's office, which, in turn, provides for the purchase of gift cards children can use while they shop.
